Mark Cassano
President

Mr. Cassano served in the U.S. Navy as an IDC assigned to the Marines in Kaneohe, Hawaii, where he provided medical care to soldiers in areas of operations around the globe. He was involved in evaluation and effectiveness of the combat medical protocols that are still in use today. He later served as a Federal Firefighter in his hometown of Jacksonville, FL., and in 1990, Mr. Cassano moved to Clay County, and became a paid Fire Fighter protecting the people of his community. He became a fire officer and a senior member of Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), along with Hazardous Materials Team. He began teaching what he had learned over a lifetime of providing care to people injured in a traumatic accident or sickness. He concluded his studies in Occupational Health and Safety at USF, and after completing his studies, he began performing environmental health and safety audits around the globe. Staff Medics, LLC, was founded in 2006, when he was approached to cover some local sporting events. It became a passion for him, and after only a short time, he decided to dedicate himself full time to covering extreme sporting events all over the Southeast. Within a year, his company Staff Medics, LLC, began covering events every weekend, and very soon afterwards, he started providing medical staff for sporting events all across the United States.

Today Staff Medics, LLC, provides medics to cover extreme sports, as well as different types of sporting events that require a medical team to standby for the safety of their participants and/or athletes. By providing the highest quality of medics, along with a strong education and professional attitude, Staff Medics, LLC ensures promoters and event sponsors that an event moves smoothly and without medical interruptions, and completes each event with excellence.

Peter Gianas, MD
Medical Director

Dr. Pete Gianas has been involved in emergency medical services for the past 25 years. Born in Wellsville, New York. Dr. Gianas attended both Johns Hopkins University in Maryland and George Washington University in Washington, DC.

In 1993, Dr. Gianas opened a private practice in Starke, Florida where he was “bitten by the EMS bug” and became actively involved in the North Central Region of Florida EMS system. As an Emergency Physician at Bradford Hospital (Shands), Dr. Gianas maintains strong ties to the EMT’s and Paramedics throughout Florida.

Dr. Gianas is also the Medical Director of Alachua, Bradford, Clay and Union Counties and Santa Fe Community College EMS Programs. He is also an instructor of ACLS (Florida Affiliate), ITLS (Medical Director), PALS and PEPP programs.

He also provides medical direction and oversight on both EMLRC’s ClinCon and Bill Shearer ALS/BLS Competition planning committees and is a member of the Florida College of Emergency Physicians (FCEP).

Dr. Gianas is currently serving his third term on the ITLS International Board of Directors and at this time is seated as the Chairman.

Dr. Gianas has taken an active and involved role in the treatment of athletes and participants in extreme sporting events with Staff Medics. He travels to select events to provide his hands on skills, along with the continued training of Staff Medics personnel. He helps to insure that our members are at the highest level possible when providing medical standby at events all over the United States.

Lisa Fontaine

Mrs. Fontaine is a top performing health care executive with over 25 years of proven progressive management experience in Health Care Administration, Multi-State Network Operations, Contract Negotiations, National Network Development, Quality Assurance & Compliance, Strategic Planning & Budgeting, Sales & Marketing, Claims & Enrollment, Reimbursement Strategy (Risk & Gainshare), Financial Cost Analysis, ACO development and Implementation, and possess an in-depth knowledge of Government sponsored healthcare programs and initiatives.

Prior to joining Staff Medics, Mrs. Fontaine held executive leadership roles with several large national healthcare organizations where she designed and executed member growth strategies for publicly traded companies with a gross annual income of $5.2B in revenue. She also pioneered company-wide initiatives for development of new markets and orchestrated a national network development team that successfully built new Medicare Advantage networks in 37 states, resulting in a 35% membership growth over 3 years.

Mrs. Fontaine is eager to share the knowledge she has gleaned from so many years of multifaceted business experience, and to offer cross-functional leadership and communications to assist Staff Medics and their clients to achieve key performance objectives. She skillfully collaborates with internal departments and external clients in order to ensure the highest level of customer service and satisfaction by Staff Medics for their clients. Mrs. Fontaine’s background in nursing enables her to offer a unique insider perspective on prevalent healthcare issues, and to find outside-the-box solutions to complicated problems, making her an invaluable asset to Staff Medics.

Mrs. Fontaine attended Florida College School of Nursing and is an avid community volunteer. She is a long-time member of the American Red Cross National Disaster Team and a First Responder. She has served as a board member for “Meals on Wheels” and Community Hospice and is tireless contributor to fund raising campaigns for Big Brother & Big Sisters of America, American Cancer Society and The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
